Product Name:Flame RetardantGelcoat HS - LFI7035S
1. Brief Introduction:HS-LFI7035S Gelcoat is a state-of-the-art intumescent flame retardant gel coat. The base resin is an Isophthalic-adipic acid unsaturated polyester resin, which is pre-promoted for optimal performance. It adapts seamlessly to spray processes and is ideally suited for FRP products requiring superior flame retardancy.
suitable for spray process and it is pre-promoted. The gel coat is suitable for the surface of FRP products requiring flame retardant
.It is applicated in
rail transit, wind turbine nacelle covers, ship accessories, and other fields demanding high flame retardancy.
2. Features: · Exceptional construction performance;
· Outstanding flame retardant properties (high oxygen index, low smoke density);
· Complies with fire protection standards UIC564-2 Class B;
· Superior water and weather resistance.
3. Gelcoat Properties:
Gel time test: Curing agent M-50 (AKZO) 2%.
4 . Application Notes :1). Gently mix the gelcoat in the bucket before use, avoiding excessive shear rates and air entrapment during mixing.
during mixing.
2). Ideal application temperature ranges between 18-25°C with humidity less than 80%. Ensure the mold is polished and clean prior to gelcoat application.
polished and clean before gelcoat application.
3). Prepare the mold ensuring the surface is dry, clean, and free from oil.
4). Fully wax the mold surface (avoid using release wax containing silicone). Allow water-soluble release wax moisture to evaporate before spraying the gelcoat.
water-soluble release wax must wait for its moisture to evaporate before spraying the gelcoat.
5). Use MEKP as the curing agent for the gelcoat (typical dosage: 1-3%).
6). Maintain the total gelcoat film thickness between 600 and 1000μm. Each spray should not exceed 0.2mm. Allow 2-3 minutes for solvent volatilization before continuing to the required thickness.
shall not be more than 0.2mm, wait for 2-3 minutes after the solvent volatilizes, then spray to the
required thickness.
7). Check the gelcoat cure degree before starting lamination layers. Press your finger on the gelcoat film for 30 seconds. If no residue appears on your finger but the gelcoat remains sticky, you can proceed with lamination.
5. Operation Procedure:
Note: Utilize a paint spray can, maintaining air source pressure at 20psi with air flow not less than 0.6 cubic meters per minute.
1). Prepare for spraying in accordance with the application guide.
2). Apply a thin layer of easily polishable primer (no more than 0.2mm thick) on the original mold's surface using thin layers and multiple passes, allowing each layer to dry. After 2 minutes of evaporation, apply the next layer to the required thickness. The primer will dry within 1 hour, after which sanding can begin.After 2 minutes of evaporation, spray the next layer to the desired thickness. The primer will dry within 1 hour and you can start sanding.
3). Perform dry sanding with 220-320 mesh sandpaper, followed by sanding with 600-1200 mesh water sandpaper, and then polish to a fine finish.
6. Storage:
1) Ensure the product is kept away from all heat sources such as direct sunlight and steam pipes. Store in a dry environment at temperatures below 25ºC for optimal preservation.
2) Maintain the container sealed to avoid moisture absorption and prevent monomer evaporation. Extended storage beyond the recommended conditions may affect key liquid resin characteristics such as viscosity and gel time.
3) Transportation must adhere to the State Council's 'Chemistry Dangerous Articles Safety Management Regulations.' Due to the presence of styrene monomer, the product is classified as hazardous and flammable.
