Product Name:Flame RetardantGelcoat HS - LFI7035S
1. Brief Introduction:HS-LFI7035S Gelcoat is an advanced intumescent flame retardant gel coat, formulated with Isophthalic-adipic acid unsaturated polyester resin. This high-performance gel coat is
ideal for spray applications and comes pre-promoted for ease of use. It is specifically designed for FRP surfaces requiring exceptional flame retardant properties
.Applications include
rail transit, wind turbine nacelle covers, ship accessories, and other demanding fields where flame retardancy is critical.
2. Features: · Outstanding construction performance;
· Superior flame retardant capabilities (high oxygen index and low smoke density);
· Compliance with UIC564-2 Class B fire protection standards;
· Excellent water and weather resistance.
3. Gelcoat Properties:
Gel time test: Curing agent M-50 (AKZO) 2%.
4 4. Application Notes: :1). Gently mix the gelcoat in the bucket before use to avoid high shear rates and air entrapment.
during mixing.
2). Ideal application temperature is between 18-25°C and humidity below 80%. Ensure the mold is polished and clean before application.
polished and clean before gelcoat application.
3). Ensure the mold surface is dry, clean, and free of oil.
4). Fully wax the mold surface (avoid silicone-containing release wax). If using water-soluble release wax, allow the moisture to evaporate before spraying the gelcoat.
water-soluble release wax must wait for its moisture to evaporate before spraying the gelcoat.
5). Use MEKP as the curing agent (generally 1-3% dosage).
6). Maintain a total gelcoat film thickness of 600 to 1000 μm. Each spray layer should not exceed 0.2mm. Allow 2-3 minutes for solvent evaporation before spraying to the
desired thickness.
.
7). Before starting the lamination layers, check the gelcoat cure degree. Press your finger on the gelcoat film for 30 seconds. If no residue is left on your finger but the gelcoat remains sticky, you can proceed with lamination.
5. Operation Procedure:
Note: Use a paint spray can with air source pressure maintained at 20 psi and an air flow of not less than 0.6 cubic meters per minute.
1). Prepare for spraying according to the application guide requirements.
2). Apply a thin layer of easy polishing primer (thickness no more than 0.2mm) using a method of thin layers and multiple passes. Wait for evaporation between layers. After 2 minutes, spray the next layer to reach desired thickness. The primer will dry within 1 hour, allowing you to start sanding.After 2 minutes of evaporation, spray the next layer to the desired thickness. The primer will dry within 1 hour and you can start sanding.
3). Dry sand with 220-320 mesh sandpaper, followed by 600-1200 mesh wet sanding, and then polish.
6. Storage:
1) Ensure that the product is shielded from heat sources, including direct sunlight and steam pipes. Store it in a dry environment with temperatures maintained below 25ºC to preserve its quality and performance.
2) Maintain a sealed container to prevent moisture absorption and monomer evaporation. Extended storage beyond the recommended conditions can adversely affect the resin's properties, such as its viscosity and gel time.
3) When transporting, adhere to the State Council's 'Chemistry Dangerous Articles Safety Management Regulations.' Due to the presence of styrene monomer, this product is classified as hazardous and flammable.
