Product Name: Flame Retardant Gelcoat HS - LFI7035S
1. Brief Introduction:HS-LFI7035S Gelcoat is an intumescent flame retardant gel coat, formulated with Isophthalic-adipic acid unsaturated polyester resin. It is ideal for spray applications and comes pre-promoted.
This gel coat is tailored for FRP surfaces requiring flame retardancy, ensuring enhanced safety and durability in critical applications.
.It is widely used in
rail transit, wind turbine nacelle covers, ship accessories, and other sectors demanding superior flame retardant properties.
2. Features: · Superior construction performance;
· Outstanding flame retardant properties (high oxygen index, low smoke density);
· Complies with fire protection standards UIC564-2 Class B;
· Excellent water and weather resistance.
3. Gelcoat Properties:
Gel time test using 2% M-50 (AKZO) curing agent.
4 . Application Notes :1). Gently mix the gelcoat before use to avoid high shear rates and air entrapment.
during mixing.
2). Ideal application conditions are a temperature range of 18-25°C and humidity below 80%. Ensure the mold is polished and clean.
polished and clean before gelcoat application.
3). Ensure the mold surface is dry, clean, and oil-free.
4). Fully wax the mold surface (avoid silicone-containing release wax). Allow water-soluble release wax to dry before spraying the gelcoat.
water-soluble release wax must wait for its moisture to evaporate before spraying the gelcoat.
5). Use MEKP as the curing agent (typically 1-3% dosage).
6). Apply gelcoat in layers to achieve a total thickness of 600-1000μm. Each layer should not exceed 0.2mm. Wait 2-3 minutes for solvent evaporation before applying the next layer.
shall not be more than 0.2mm, wait for 2-3 minutes after the solvent volatilizes, then spray to the
required thickness..
7). Before starting lamination layers, check gelcoat curing. Press your finger on the gelcoat film for 30 seconds; if no residue appears and the film remains sticky, you can proceed with lamination layers.
5. Operation Procedure:
Note: Use a paint spray can with an air source pressure of 20psi and a minimum air flow of 0.6 cubic meters per minute.
1). Follow the application guide for preparation before spraying.
2). Apply a thin, easy-to-polish primer layer (thickness less than 0.2mm) on the original mold surface using a thin layer technique with multiple passes. Wait for it to dissolve.After 2 minutes of evaporation, apply the next layer to the desired thickness. The primer will dry within 1 hour, after which sanding can commence.
3). Conduct dry sanding with 220-320 grit sandpaper, followed by wet sanding with 600-1200 grit sandpaper, then proceed to polishing.
6. Storage:
1) Ensure optimal preservation by avoiding exposure to heat sources such as direct sunlight or steam pipes. Store the product in a dry, cool environment with temperatures maintained below 25ºC for maximum efficacy.
2) Maintain the integrity of the product by keeping containers sealed to prevent moisture absorption and monomer evaporation. Extended storage outside the recommended conditions may adversely impact critical properties like viscosity and gel time.
3) Adhere to the State Council's 'Chemistry Dangerous Articles Safety Management Regulations' during transportation. Due to the presence of styrene monomer, this product is classified as hazardous and highly flammable.
