Product Name:Flame RetardantGelcoat HS - LFI7035S
1. Brief Introduction:HS-LFI7035S Gelcoat is an exceptional intumescent flame retardant gel coat, formulated with an Isophthalic-adipic acid unsaturated polyester resin base, engineered for superior performance.
Designed for the spray process, this pre-promoted gel coat is ideal for the surfaces of FRP products that require advanced flame retardant properties.
.It is applied in
rail transit systems, wind turbine nacelle covers, ship accessories, and various other fields demanding high flame retardancy.
2. Features: · Outstanding construction performance;
· Unmatched flame retardant capabilities (high oxygen index, low smoke density);
· Conforms to fire protection standards UIC564-2 Class B
· Excellent water and weather resistance.
3. Gelcoat Properties:
Gel time test: Utilizing Curing agent M-50 (AKZO) at 2% concentration.
4 . Application Notes :1). Gently mix the gelcoat in the bucket prior to use to prevent high shear rates and air entrapment.
during mixing.
2). Optimal application temperature ranges from 18-25°C with humidity below 80%. Ensure the mold is polished and clean before application.
polished and clean before gelcoat application.
3). Prepare the mold by ensuring the surface is dry, clean, and oil-free.
4). Fully wax the surface of the mold (avoid silicone-containing release wax). Allow water-soluble release wax to evaporate before spraying.
water-soluble release wax must wait for its moisture to evaporate before spraying the gelcoat.
5). Use MEKP as the curing agent for the gelcoat (typically 1-3% dosage).
6). Maintain a total gelcoat film thickness between 600 and 1000μm. Each spray layer should not exceed 0.2mm in thickness. Allow 2-3 minutes for solvent evaporation before applying the next layer.
shall not be more than 0.2mm, wait for 2-3 minutes after the solvent volatilizes, then spray to the
required thickness..
7). Check the gelcoat's cure degree before proceeding with lamination. Press your finger on the gelcoat film for 30 seconds. If no residue appears on your finger but the film remains sticky, you can proceed with lamination.
5. Operation Procedure:
Note: Use a paint spray can, maintaining air source pressure at 20psi and air flow at a minimum of 0.6 cubic meters per minute.
1). Prepare for spraying as per the application guide requirements.
2). Apply a thin, easy-to-polish primer layer (no thicker than 0.2mm) on the original mold surface using a thin layer method and multiple passes. Wait for it to dissolve before adding the next layer.After 2 minutes of evaporation, spray the next layer to the desired thickness. The primer dries within 1 hour, allowing you to start sanding.
3). Perform dry sanding with 220-320 mesh sandpaper, followed by 600-1200 mesh water sandpaper, and then polish to a smooth finish.
6. Storage:
1) Ensure optimal preservation by avoiding exposure to heat sources such as direct sunlight or steam pipes. Store in a cool, dry place at temperatures below 25ºC to maintain product integrity.
2) Keep containers tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption and monomer evaporation. Deviations from recommended storage conditions can adversely affect the resin's viscosity and gel time, potentially compromising its performance.
3) Transportation must adhere to the State Council's 'Chemistry Dangerous Articles Safety Management Regulations.' Due to its styrene monomer content, this product is classified as hazardous and flammable, necessitating stringent safety measures during transit.
