Product Name:Flame RetardantGelcoat HS - LFI7035S
1. Brief Introduction:HS-LFI7035S Gelcoat is a premium intumescent flame retardant gel coat, formulated with a base resin of Isophthalic-adipic acid unsaturated polyester. It is
perfect for spray applications and comes pre-promoted for ease of use. This gel coat is ideal for FRP surfaces requiring top-tier flame retardant properties
.It finds applications in
rail transit, wind turbine nacelle covers, ship accessories, and various other industries where flame retardant is essential.
2. Features: · Outstanding construction performance;
· Unparalleled flame retardant capabilities (high oxygen index, low smoke density);
· Compliant with UIC564-2 Class B fire protection standards;
· Superior water and weather resistance.
3. Gelcoat Properties:
Gel time test: Curing agent M-50 (AKZO) 2%.
4 . Application Notes :1). Gently mix the gelcoat in the bucket before use to avoid excessive shear rates and air entrapment during mixing.
2). Optimal application temperature should range between 18-25°C with humidity below 80%. Ensure the mold is
polished and clean before applying the gelcoat.
3). Prepare the mold by ensuring its surface is dry, clean, and oil-free.
4). Fully wax the mold surface (do not use silicone-containing release wax). Ensure water-soluble release wax has
evaporated before applying the gelcoat.
5). Use MEKP as the curing agent for the gelcoat, with a typical dosage of 1-3%.
6). The total gelcoat film thickness should range between 600 and 1000μm. Each spray layer should not exceed
0.2mm. Wait 2-3 minutes after the solvent evaporates before applying additional layers to reach the desired thickness.
required thickness.
7). Verify the gelcoat cure degree before starting lamination layers. Press your finger on the gelcoat film for 30 seconds. If there is no residue on your finger but the gelcoat remains sticky, continue with the lamination process.
5. Operation procedure:
Note: Use a paint spray can with an air source pressure maintained at 20psi. Ensure the air flow is not less than 0.6 cubic meters per minute.
1). Follow the application guide to prepare for spraying.
2). Apply a thin layer of easy-to-polish primer (no more than 0.2mm thick) on the original mold surface using multiple passes. Allow it to dissolve before spraying the next layer to the desired thickness. The primer will dry within an hour, allowing you to start sanding.After a 2-minute evaporation period, spray the next layer to achieve the required thickness. The primer will be ready for sanding within 1 hour.
3). Perform dry sanding with 220-320 mesh sandpaper, followed by 600-1200 mesh water sandpaper, and finish with polishing.
6. Storage:
1) It is crucial to shield this product from heat sources, including direct sunlight and steam pipes, to maintain its integrity. Ensure storage in a dry environment at temperatures below 25ºC to preserve its premium quality.
2) Always keep the container securely sealed to avoid moisture absorption and prevent monomer evaporation. Remember, prolonged exposure to unsuitable conditions can adversely affect the liquid resin's properties, including its viscosity and gel time, which are vital for optimal performance.
3) Adhere to the State Council's 'Chemistry Dangerous Articles Safety Management Regulations' during transportation due to the presence of styrene monomer, rendering it both hazardous and highly flammable. Handle with the utmost care to ensure safety and compliance.
