4 . Application Notes :1). Gently mix the gelcoat before use to prevent excessive shear rates and air entrapment.
during mixing.
2). Optimal application temperature: 18-25°C; humidity: <80%. Ensure the mold is polished and clean.
before gelcoat application.
3). Ensure the mold surface is dry, clean, and oil-free.
4). Fully wax the mold surface (avoid silicone-containing release wax); allow moisture to evaporate from water-soluble release wax before spraying gelcoat.
release wax must wait for its moisture to evaporate before spraying the gelcoat.
5). Use MEKP as the curing agent (dosage: 1-3%).
6). Total gelcoat film thickness: 600-1000μm. Ensure each spray layer does not exceed 0.2mm.
Wait 2-3 minutes post solvent evaporation before adding subsequent layers to achieve desired thickness.
required thickness..
7). Before starting lamination layers, check gelcoat cure by pressing your finger for 30 seconds on the film. Proceed when no residue is left on your finger, and gelcoat remains sticky on the film.
5. Operation Procedure:
Note: When spraying, maintain air source pressure at 20psi, with an airflow of at least 0.6 cubic meters per minute.
1). Adhere to application guide requirements for spraying preparation.
2). Apply a thin layer of easy polishing primer (not exceeding 0.2mm thick) on the original mold surface using multiple thin layers, allowing each to dissolve before applying the next. After 2 minutes of evaporation, spray to desired thickness. Primer dries within 1 hour, enabling sanding. After 2 minutes of evaporation, spray the next layer to the desired thickness. The primer will dry within 1 hour and you can start sanding.
3). Dry sand with 220-320 mesh sandpaper, followed by 600-1200 mesh water sandpaper, then proceed to polish.
6. Storage:
1) To maintain the superior quality of Urban Railway Gel Coat with Flame Resistant and Weatherproof Durability by Changzhou Huake Polymers Co., Ltd., avoid exposing it to heat sources such as direct sunlight or steam pipes. Store it in a dry, well-ventilated area at temperatures below 25ºC to ensure its longevity and performance.
2) Ensure the product remains sealed to prevent moisture absorption and monomer evaporation. Extended storage beyond the recommended conditions can negatively impact critical properties of the liquid resin, such as viscosity and gel time, thereby affecting its overall performance.
3) During transportation, adhere strictly to the State Council's 'Chemistry Dangerous Articles Safety Management Regulations.' As the product contains styrene monomer, it is classified as hazardous and flammable. Proper handling and compliance with safety protocols are imperative to ensure safe transit.
